The Final Countdown... Sort of...

It's the Final Countdown... Sort of.

The countdown to the end of the last day working at UMC (and the graveyard shift) is T-15 hours and counting.

The countown to the next time I'll get to sleep: 24 hours (Meg says, "More like years")!

United States Air Force Officer Training?  12 Days

Megan retires from teaching: 11 school days

Reuniting with my wife and 4 month-old baby boy after being gone for a month: 12 days + 1 month

Starting Med School (2nd Lieutenant): 2 months. Finishing Med School(Captain): 4 years. Finishing Residency: 8 years.  Completing my first (and last?) term with the Air Force as a Physician(Major?): 12 years.

I suppose this is one way of looking at our life.  I'd be lying if I said I wasn't counting down the days to more sleep, to being done with being a Health Unit Coordinator, to having dinner with my wife on weekdays again.  But this time has been so much more than running around without sleep, passing my spouse with a kiss out the door and a wave out the window.   It's been extraordinary.

I read about it a while ago, and C.S. Lewis wrote about it long before that.  About living, in union with God, in the present.  We certainly look forward to all the changes that are on the horizon for our family, but Damian has brought such a joy to our young family, that we started this blog so we could share our "Present"s with you!
